Notes on Muscle Tissue
Rahul's Noteblog Notes on Anatomy Notes on Muscle Tissue
Layers of Muscle Fiber:
Endomysium:
+ Surrounds individual muscle fibers.
Perimysium:
+ Surrounds groups of muscles.
Epimysium:
+ Surrounds entire muscle.
Sacromere structure:
• Thin filaments contain actin, tropomyosin, troponin.
• Thick filaments contain myosin.
Structure of a Myofiber:
Composition of Myofiber Bands:
• I bands composed of thin filaments; variable length.
• A bands composed of thik and thin filaments; constant length.
• H bands composed of thick filaments; variable length.
Additional Notes:
• Cardiac tissue: fascia adherens; intercalated discs - Z-line.
• Myoglobin: red.
• Triad of skeletal muscle: A-I band junction of sarcomeres.
• White fibers: less mitochondria; less myoglobin; less cytochrome s; increased innervation.
• Smooth muscle: corkscrew-shaped nucleus.
